Credits and billing
Add credit, turn on automatic top-up, set a monthly limit, download invoices and see what runs cost.
Runs are paid for with credit, counted in dollars. You buy credit, can top it up automatically, and can cap what runs spend each month. Your personal workspace and each organization have their own credit, and a run is charged to the workspace it runs in.
Open Settings → Billing. The page shows your balance, card, automatic top-up and Monthly limit under Credit, your recent purchases of credit with their invoices under Purchases, and a Usage chart of what runs spent in the Last 30 days.
Every member of an organization can open this page, but only Admins can change anything on it. For other members the controls are disabled, with the tooltip "Only an owner can change this"; owner here means Admin.
Add credit
Click Add credit.
Type an amount in dollars, or pick one of the preset amounts. One purchase adds between $5 and $1,000.
Under Pay with, keep your saved card, or choose Another payment method to pay by another card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link or stablecoins (USDC).
With the saved card, click Pay and the card is charged right away. With another payment method, click Continue to checkout and pay on Stripe's checkout page.
If your bank asks you to confirm a card payment, its check opens on the page; once you confirm, the credit is added. If the card is declined, the dialog says why and stays open, so you can try Another payment method.
Without a saved card, the dialog goes straight to checkout and says: "Pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link or stablecoins (USDC) at checkout. A card is saved for next time." With a saved card, paying at checkout leaves the saved card as it is, even when you pay by another card there.
When you come back from checkout, a note on the page says whether the credit has arrived. Stablecoin payments can take a few minutes to confirm.
Card
Add credit and automatic top-up both charge the saved card. Under Card, click Add card, or Change to replace the saved card, and enter the card in the form. The new card can take a moment to show on the page while Stripe confirms it.
Automatic top-up
Automatic top-up adds credit when the balance runs low, charged to the saved card. It needs a saved card.
Next to Auto top-up, click Manage.
Under When the balance falls below, choose $100, $200 or $500.
Under Add, choose how much each top-up adds: $250, $500 or $1,000. The menu offers only amounts at least as large as the threshold.
Click Enable.
After that, whenever a run's charge leaves the balance below the threshold, V12 charges the card. These top-ups appear under Purchases as "Added automatically". To turn it off, open Manage, choose Never under When the balance falls below, and click Disable.
Monthly limit
Under Credit, choose a Monthly limit: No limit, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or $2,500.
The limit counts what runs spent in the last 30 days, the same window as Usage; refunded runs do not count. A run that would take spending over the limit is refused with "Monthly spending limit reached." until you raise the limit.
Purchases and invoices
Every purchase, from Add credit or an automatic top-up, gets a paid invoice from Stripe. Stripe emails the invoice and its receipt to your billing email: the address given at your first checkout, or, without a checkout, the Admin's who first paid with the saved card or turned on automatic top-up. The Purchases section names the address once Stripe has one.
Checkout asks for a billing address, and the invoice prints it. Under Bill to, Admins set the company or individual name printed on invoices; the name applies to the next invoice, and invoices already issued keep theirs.
Purchases lists your recent purchases by month: at least the latest 50, each month in full, with its number of purchases and its total. The latest month is open; click the arrow beside a month to open it, or Expand all to open every month. Each purchase shows its invoice: click the invoice number to download the PDF, or Receipt to open Stripe's page for it, where Download invoice and Download receipt get both documents.
Right after a purchase, the row says Preparing invoice… and shows the invoice on its own once Stripe issues it, usually within seconds. Invoice delayed means Stripe has not issued it after two minutes; it appears once Stripe does. No invoice means Stripe holds none for the purchase, as for purchases made before V12 issued invoices.
What a run costs
Every run has a fixed price. When you start a run yourself, the run sheet shows it as the Estimate; see Approve the price.
- The price grows with the code the run reads: the number of files, their lines and their size, or, for a change, the size of the changed files and the number of changed lines.
- Each extra repository in a run is priced on its own, and the prices are added.
- A code review with Detect and triage only costs less: it writes no proofs of concept or fixes.
- The price is charged in full when the run starts. A draft is not charged.
- A start is refused with "Insufficient credit balance." when the balance is below the price.
For refunds of failed and cancelled runs, see Follow a run.
